Our Cornish Monk Fish is hand-selected and expertly prepared by our professional team every day. All fresh fish fillets, portions, and oven-ready whole fish are  sea-sealed, labelled, and packaged in an eco-friendly WoolCool insulated recyclable box for maximum freshness. Fish can be kept refrigerated at home between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius and eaten within 2-3 days, or frozen on the day of delivery and eaten within 3 months.

Much of the weight of a monkfish is its head, so we only sell prime, skinned, boneless fillets, cut into individual 250g portions from a whole Monkfish. Giving you between 1 to 1.5KG of Monkfish per order.

Monkfish is present in the waters around Cornwall, caught in-season.

Fish Preparation Guide

Fresh Fish Filleted:
Fillets are the most commonly used cut. The fish is taken off the bone to create a fillet which is then pin-boned. Fillets cut from larger fish can subsequently be cut into portions also known as Supremes.

Types of Fish: Cod Brill, Dabs, Dover sole, Gurnards, Herring, Lemon Sole, Megrim Sole, Monkfish, Plaice, Pollock, Rainbow, Trout, Salmon, Sardines, Sea Bass and Whiting

Please note while every care has been taken to remove bones in fillets, there may be some remaining

Whole Oven Ready Fish:
Hand prepared in house fish is gutted and scaled, ready for cooking in the oven, BBQ or pan. Fish stays super juicy when cooked on the bone.

Cooking & Storage

Monkfish can be grilled, baked, pan-fried or poached. The flesh is robust, and its subtle taste is the perfect partner for relatively strong flavours, including paprika and curries. The sweet, meaty lightness of the fish goes particularly well with pork, benefiting from the meat’s natural saltiness. Monkfish has a thin, purple membrane underneath the skin that needs to be removed before cooking, otherwise it will shrink, constricting the fish and misshaping it.

Refrigerate between 0°C and 5°C and consume within 2-3 days. If you won't be able to eat it within three days, freeze it on the day of delivery and eat it within three months. Refrigerate overnight to defrost. Do not refreeze.

Fresh from the sea and delivered straight to your door in as little as 48 hours. We dispatch orders Monday to Thursday using a DPD next day courier service for Tuesday to Friday delivery. Saturday delivery is available at a surcharge of £9.95 – Orders must be placed by Thursday 10AM for guaranteed Saturday delivery.

We use a DPD Next Day courier service for all our deliveries, and we aim to dispatch orders within 48 to 72 hours of receiving them through our website. To be able to keep our shipping as eco-friendly as possible, we have a minimum order value of £30.00.

Spend over £50.00 for FREE delivery on weekday UK Mainland delivery, this offer does not apply to Saturday delivery. For all orders under £50.00 there is a small delivery charge of £2.95 to anywhere in the UK Mainland via DPD courier. For all orders that have requested Saturday delivery there is a charge of £9.95. Due to the nature of our product, we can only ship to mainland UK

Delivery includes an award-winning environmentally friendly wool liner to help keep the fresh seafood cold and is fully biodegradable and recyclable. All fresh products are vacuum sealed for freshness and labelled for your convenience.
