Our Cornish Plaice is hand-selected and expertly prepared by our professional team every day. All fresh fish fillets, portions, and oven-ready whole fish are vacuumed sealed, labelled, and packaged in an eco-friendly WoolCool insulated recyclable box for maximum freshness. Fish can be kept refrigerated at home between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius and eaten within 2-3 days, or frozen on the day of delivery and eaten within 3 months.

In the United Kingdom, Plaice has always held a special place in our hearts. It's known for its tender, white flesh and sweet, subtle, slightly salty flavour. Plaice is often overlooked by top chefs and restaurants these days, but its moist texture and delicate flavour make it ideal for a quick, healthy, and tasty meal.

Our entire fresh plaice ranges in size from 300g to 1kg, making them ideal for a shared appetiser for two or a filling main course for one.

We can also fillet a whole fish for you if you prefer. The top (dark) and bottom (white) sides of the plaice are used to make fillets. The thicker fillet comes from the darker side.

Fish Preparation Guide

Fresh Fish Filleted:
Fillets are the most commonly used cut. The fish is taken off the bone to create a fillet which is then pin-boned. Fillets cut from larger fish can subsequently be cut into portions also known as Supremes.

Types of Fish: Cod Brill, Dabs, Dover sole, Gurnards, Herring, Lemon Sole, Megrim Sole, Monkfish, Plaice, Pollock, Rainbow, Trout, Salmon, Sardines, Sea Bass and Whiting

Please note while every care has been taken to remove bones in fillets, there may be some remaining

Whole Oven Ready Fish:
Hand prepared in house fish is gutted and scaled, ready for cooking in the oven, BBQ or pan. Fish stays super juicy when cooked on the bone.

Cooking & Storage

Plaice should be eaten as soon as possible because its mild flavour fades quickly. It's an incredibly versatile fish that can be prepared in a variety of ways, from oven roasting to stir fries. It also works well for battering. Plaice goes well with almost anything, from simple steamed vegetables to a creamy cheese sauce.

Roast a whole fish on the bone for casual elegance and the best flavour.

Try poached or pan-fried fillets with a lemon and parsley sauce, or stuffed with a rich shellfish filling.

It's best to eat it right away. Refrigerate between 0°C and 5°C and consume within 2-3 days. If you won't be able to eat it within three days, freeze it on the day of delivery and eat it within three months. Refrigerate overnight to defrost. Do not refreeze.

Fresh from the sea and delivered straight to your door in as little as 48 hours. We dispatch orders Monday to Thursday using a DPD next day courier service for Tuesday to Friday delivery. Saturday delivery is available at a surcharge of £9.95 – Orders must be placed by Thursday 10AM for guaranteed Saturday delivery.

We use a DPD Next Day courier service for all our deliveries, and we aim to dispatch orders within 48 to 72 hours of receiving them through our website. To be able to keep our shipping as eco-friendly as possible, we have a minimum order value of £30.00.

Spend over £50.00 for FREE delivery on weekday UK Mainland delivery, this offer does not apply to Saturday delivery. For all orders under £50.00 there is a small delivery charge of £2.95 to anywhere in the UK Mainland via DPD courier. For all orders that have requested Saturday delivery there is a charge of £9.95. Due to the nature of our product, we can only ship to mainland UK

Delivery includes an award-winning environmentally friendly wool liner to help keep the fresh seafood cold and is fully biodegradable and recyclable. All fresh products are vacuum sealed for freshness and labelled for your convenience.
